So, I ultimately wound up losing around 13 pounds and set a PR by 17 minutes during the Chicago Marathon this year. Of course, I let myself go in between marathons and ran 18 minutes slower at New York three weeks later. Overall, I’d say it was a success, and I’m going to be going back on the program again in December with the goal of losing around 30–40 pounds before running Chicago again in October 2020. Definitely felt it in my knees, and I had a lot more energy during the later stages of the race than I did during my previous three marathons.
